The list below consists of mainly external events, relevant for EU4OceanObs and involving the participation of the EU action coordinators of the GEO Blue Planet Initiative and/or G7 Future of the Seas & Oceans Initiative.
European Green Week 2021

The European Green Week 2021 is dedicated to the European Union’s ‘zero pollution ambition’. It will also look at other relevant European Green Deal initiatives, such as the climate initiatives, the upcoming Chemicals Strategy, as well as initiatives in the fields of energy, industry, mobility, agriculture, fisheries, health and biodiversity.
The EU Green Week virtual conference will run from 1 to 4 June and includes the following events related to ocean pollution, ocean plastic, keeping our seas and oceans healthy and working towards a sustainable blue economy:
- 2 June, Session 4.4: Space is the place – monitoring the planet’s health with Copernicus, including a presentation on “Green deal solutions for combatting ocean pollution with the Copernicus Marine Service”.
- 2 June, Session 2.4: Clean seas with a sustainable blue economy – challenges and opportunities
- 2 June, Session 6.2: Making waves – young people’s views on water pollution
- 3 June, High Level Session: TRAPPED BY PLASTIC Screening of a short documentary followed by a debate on how we can end marine plastic pollution
